Things to do, stuff to know!

GET SET FOR THE HLG KART RACE

More than 100 racers, aged seven to 12, are expected to take to the 150-metre track along the Discovery Bay Road cycle lane on November 21 for the HLG Kart Race. With your place secured (registration closed on October 30), it’s time to get race-day ready! Here’s what to wear, what to pack and how to prepare for the big day.

A correctly fitted bike helmet is mandatory, and children are encouraged to bring their own rather than share. Trainers or other suitable closed-toe sports shoes are also essential – flip-flops and other open-toed footwear are not permitted. Gloves are recommended, while knee and elbow pads are optional. All racers must wear the event shirt provided and display their racer number on their arm.

Bring lunch and plenty of water to keep energy levels up throughout the heats. Sunscreen, insect repellent and towels are also useful additions.

On November 21, arrive at the track 15 to 20 minutes before your allocated race time to complete registration. Your race schedule and payment information will be emailed to you in early November, so keep an eye on your inbox. Finally, make sure you read the rules and regulations at hlgkartrace.com (scan the QR code) before race day. A little preparation goes a long way towards making the experience safe, smooth and fun for everyone!
