The Discovery Bay Post Office was inaugurated on August 26, 1998 and is located at Shop 12A, Ground Floor, Block C of the Discovery Bay Plaza, Discovery Bay, Lantau Island, bringing the total number of branch post offices in Hong Kong to 128 in 1998. Gracing the opening ceremony were the Postmaster General, Mr Robert Footman, JP, joined by the Chairman of Islands Provisional District Board, Mr Lam Wai-keung, JP, and District Officer (Islands), Mr Patrick Chan Nim-tak, JP.
