At the height of the silver rush, people flocked to Mui Wo to work the mine, and the surrounding area was developed into a village called Pak Ngan Heung, literally translated as ‘Silver Village.
Built over 400 years ago in the reign of Shen Zong of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1620), the Man Mo Temple in Pak Ngan Heung is the oldest temple in Mui Wo, and well worth a look.
A unique piece of local history, originally built as a defence against pirates, Tung Chung Fort is well worth a visit.
