Combining a UK Education with Sporting Pathway

UK Sports Schools (UKSS) is the brainchild of former-DB resident Dirk Haddow, who is also the co-founder of Progressive Sports Asia which runs the hugely popular Tekkerz football programme here in DB and Tung Chung.

UKSS offers specialist, free advice for parents and students seeking to attend independent private schools in the UK that combine academic excellence with clear, proven and potentially elite sports pathways. The primary focus is football although other sports include rugby, tennis, swimming, golf and hockey; UKSS represents more than 10 leading UK schools.

Dirk has first-hand experience having gone through the process over six years ago when searching for a boarding school in the UK for his son that balanced education with football and offered a pathway into the professional academy system.

“It was difficult identifying a good school that met our criteria and expectations, but after significant research, and a trip back to the UK, we found what we were looking for,” Dirk says. “After that, unofficially I helped quite a few parents whose boys wanted to come to the UK and challenge themselves in an environment full of aspiring footballers from all over the world.”

As interest grew, Dirk set up UKSS. Now UK-based, he’s in a unique position to find placements for kids (10+). “I’m visiting schools, talking to key staff, getting the inside knowledge and thus identifying which school would be best for each client. What’s more, we offer honest and unbiased advice along with personalised recommendations all for free.”
