The BIG Picnic to go ahead following successful crowdfunding campaign

Mark your calendars as organisers of The BIG Picnic have confirmed that Hong Kong’s Biggest Community Music & Dance Festival, to be held on November 3, will go ahead!

Due to increasing event costs and change in circumstances from sponsors, the organisers of The BIG Picnic launched a crowdfunding campaign last month to secure the remaining capital needed for the 12th annual The BIG Picnic (formerly Picnic in the Park).

The campaign proved successful with a total of HK$104,010 raised for this year’s event. Those who donated HK$150 or more, are entitled to a wristband on the day of the event, which will give them access to both the beach and plaza stages.

In speaking to Around DB, co-organiser Mona Gadalla-Carter expressed her gratitude to the community for their overwhelming support.

“The team at The BIG Picnic would like to thank the DB community for making donations on our crowdfunding page and helping us reach our HK$100,000 goal! The event wouldn’t have gone ahead had we not reached the full amount. A BIG thank you to the DB community for all donations – big and small. We look forward to a fantastic event on the 3rd of November!,” says Mona.

Wristbands are now on sale through Ticketflap at a discounted rate, guaranteeing wristband holders perks like discounts on beer, food, some market goods and merchandise.

The Big Picnic is a not for profit event. Money remaining from event costs will be distributed to The Big Picnic’s supported charities.

We’re on our final countdown with exactly a month to go until the big day!
