Severe Typhoon Mangkhut recovery efforts ongoing on Lantau

Posted in : News on by : Around DB , , , Comments: 0

Lantauers are continuing clear-up efforts following extensive damage and flooding from Severe Typhoon Mangkhut, one of the most powerful storms on record to have hit Hong Kong.

The tropical cyclone triggered the T10 warning – the highest possible signal – as hurricane-strength winds swept across the territory yesterday (Sunday September 16).

Due to damage at Mui Wo Pier and Central Pier No. 6, the resumption of ferry services only began at 10:10am this morning and is still running at limited half hour intervals. New Lantao Bus routes 1, 2, 3M, 11, 21, 23, A35, B2 and B2P are still suspended due to limited road access from felled trees and debris on roads.

Here are some photos of the damage caused.
