ESF IB STUDENTS ACHIEVE OUTSTANDING RESULTS
ESF (www.esf.edu.hk) students have secured an incredible set of International Baccalaureate (IB) results with 36 students achieving 45 points and 62 students achieving 44 points. Renee Tan and Xavier Chang of Discovery College (www.esf.edu.hk/discovery-college) were among the students achieving the maximum 45 points.
“I am absolutely delighted with the success of our students this year. This is a real testament to their hard work and dedication,” says Belinda Greer, ESF’s Chief Executive Officer. “The students have excelled in every way during a very challenging couple of years. The IB Diploma is an academically rigorous qualification which showcases not just ability but the students’ resilience and tenacity.”
HKILA STUDENTS SUPPORTING LOCAL REFUGEES
As part of a project about migration, HKILA (www.studyhkila.edu.hk) students have been raising funds and collecting donations to help refugees in Hong Kong.
To support the refugees (many of whom are children),
HKILA students went shopping with a budget of funds they had raised, collected further donations, packed up the items and arranged for them to be delivered to the headquarters of local charity RUN, which supports vulnerable refugees, particularly women.
“Our students showed great compassion and empathy with this project and a genuine desire to help make the refugees’ lives a little easier,” HKILA’s Head Teacher, Justine Barlow says. “We’re a small school but we have a big heart and I’m very proud of how much we were able to donate!”
FEES FROZEN AT DBIS FOR 2022-23
Discovery Bay International School (www.dbis.edu.hk) has confirmed that fees across the school – from Nursery to Year 13 – will not increase for the new academic year in light of the impact the pandemic continues to have on families in Hong Kong. This is the third year in a row that school fees have remained unchanged.
Annual school fees at DBIS, which range from HK$113,300 in Nursery to
HK$185,500 in Year 13, include significant items such as examination fees and extracurricular activities.
Access to iPads in Early Years and Chromebooks in Primary is also included. Membership to the school’s active, community-focused PTSA is free, and parent involvement is welcomed.
REGISTRATION OPEN FOR YHKCC’S FORM 1 ADMISSION BRIEFING
YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College (www.yhkcc.edu.hk) is holding an admission briefing for prospective Form 1 students and their parents on October 15 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, in order to introduce the school’s curriculum and facilities, and outline admission requirements. The briefing is being held at the school’s Tung Chung campus.
“Parents should note that YHKCC does not participate in the Government’s Form 1 Secondary School Place Allocation (SSPA) System; we admit students directly,” says Principal Diana Lo. “After applicants have been interviewed, confirmed places may be offered. We use English as the Medium of Instruction, and only Chinese-related subjects are taught in Chinese.
YHKCC requires an Academic Reference and Confirmation of Second Language Learning Background for all applicants.”
