A 69-year-old hiker died yesterday (Sunday November 26) after falling off Kau Nga Ling, a Lantau cliff renowned for its extreme trail with rugged ridges.
Lau Ho-ming was hiking with a group of 15 people when he fell from what is known as one of the most challenging spots of the hike. Dubbed as ‘slim chance of survival’, the spot is located at the junction of West Kau Nga and Mid Kau Nga, and involves a section that has an almost vertical drop.
Others in Lau’s hiking group immediately called the police, who launched a rescue mission along with firefighters and the Government Flying Service, according to The Standard. Lau was certified dead at the scene.
