The body of paraglider Patrick Chung was sadly found on Lantau today, five days after he went missing.

In a statement on its website, the Hong Kong Paragliding Association (HKPA) said that that the paraglider pilot was found at around noon today (Friday July 27) in the Sunset Peak area.

The HKPA said its thoughts were with Chung’s family, and thanked the emergency services and fellow paragliders who had searched bravely in tough conditions during the search effort.

It went on to say: “Thank you also to the members of the public who responded to requests for video and photographs and to the members of the media who helped to disseminate the requests. The entire Hong Kong community came together to support the search and that is truly appreciated.”

Chung had been part of a group of paragliding pilots affected by rapidly changing weather with a fast moving squall on Sunday afternoon (July 22). A number of emergency landings were made with some pilots suffering minor injuries, however Chung remained unaccounted for.

Anyone wishing to send a message of support to the family and friends of the pilot are advised to email [email protected].
