Tung Chung is centrally positioned on Lantau’s northwestern coast, with Tai Ho to the east and Tai O to the west. It forms part of North Lantau New Town, which is just 10 minutes from Hong Kong International Airport. Tung Chung is surrounded by two country parks – Lantau North and Lantau South – which cover an area as large as Hong Kong Island.

At the heart of this new town, Citygate Outlets contains 500,000 square-feet of shopping, entertainment and food outlets spread across five floors. Seaview Crescent, near Tung Chung Waterfront Promenade, also has an excellent range of bars and restaurants. Tung Chung has both private and public housing, and there’s a hospital, library, swimming pool, sports centre and numerous schools, including YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College.

Tung Chung is well served by MTR, road and ferry. The main road link, the North Lantau Highway connects Tung Chung to the rest of Hong Kong via the Tsing Ma Bridge. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge begins near Tung Chung, and the Ngong Ping 360 cable car provides easy access to the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. Tung Chung is also a hub for bus and ferry routes to the rest of Lantau.
