Since it’s opening one year ago, Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung has turned T Bay into a vibrant new neighbourhood hotspot full of restaurants, bars and shops. With overseas guests thin on the ground, the hotel has reached out to Lantau residents by placing an emphasis on community involvement and positioning itself as an exciting place to eat, drink and staycation.
Of the many memorable staycations on offer this year, all designed to cheer us up at a time when overseas travel has been nigh on impossible, the Pilot for a Day Staycation stands out. Guests were invited to get airborne using an A320 flight simulator. There was also the Magical Mermaid Fitness Staycation, part of the hotel’s wellness programme, in which professional mermaid-dance fitness trainers taught guests to turn and flip in the water. (Tails were provided.)
As the most global brand within Marriott International’s portfolio, sitting at the centre of hundreds of neighbourhoods around the world, Sheraton’s signature community experience is designed not only to attract locals to the hotel but also to support and involve local businesses. One of Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung’s focuses has been on the Lantau farming community, with a unique farm-to-table concept enabling diners to meet the local organic farmers who produce their food.
