Hong Kong’s Serve-a-thon 2020 brings together NGOs, corporations, schools, civic organisations, the government and media in a community service week. The aim is to raise awareness around the importance of volunteer work to address socio-economic issues in Hong Kong.
Volunteers can choose from 150 volunteer activities to support over 50 local non-profits that support Hong Kong’s most in need, addressing issues such as poverty, education, assisting the elderly, empowering people with disabilities, environmental conservation and more.
Even though Hong Kong is depicted as a wealthy city, almost 15% of citizens are lacking basic necessities. Nonetheless, there are more than 9,000 NGOs in Hong Kong working to support these individuals. Serve-a-thon aims to respond to this need by providing meaningful volunteer opportunities for those willing to help.
