Planning indoor activities could be a good move this week, with temperatures set to rise as super typhoon Maria edges closer to the coast of Guangdong.

The storm, which is currently packing winds up of to 210 km/h, initially formed to the east of the Philippines on July 3 and is forecast to move west-northwest towards the vicinity of north Taiwan today and tomorrow.

According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the outer subsiding air of Maria is expected to bring very hot weather to the coast of Guangdong towards the middle of the week, followed by a period of rain.
