Hong Kong may be in for some unsettled weather over the weekend as the latest storm to affect the region and the northeast monsoon edge closer.
As of Thursday morning, tropical cyclone Aere was centred within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong and is forecast to gradually move west across the northern part of the South China Sea. According to the Hong Kong Observatory, Aere’s circulation is rather small and compact, therefore will only affect Hong Kong when it gets relatively close to the territory.
The Observatory is closely monitoring the storm’s progress, as well as that of the northeast monsoon. The interaction between the two will determine to what degree Hong Kong’s weather is affected.
The Observatory is forecasting hot weather for Thursday and has advised the public to take precautions where necessary.
