A 40-year-old woman has become the third person to be locally infected by dengue fever this year.
The woman, residing in Mid-Levels, presented symptoms of a fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting and diarrhoea since August 27.
She sought treatment at Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai on August 29 and was discharged yesterday. She remains in a stable condition despite an underlying illness.
The woman had no recent travel history and during her incubation period, she passed through the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator and Walkway System almost daily.
The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) is calling on individuals who have been in the vicinity of Conduit Road, the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator, Shelley Street, the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens and Graham Street Market that are displaying symptoms of the mosquito-borne dengue virus to call their hotline at 2125 2266.
Two other Hong Kong residents have contracted the mosquito-borne dengue virus locally this summer, with the first case confirmed in early August.
