The BIG Picnic launches crowdfunding campaign

Posted in : News on by : Around DB Comments: 0

The BIG Picnic has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise at least HK$100,000 to make sure DB’s annual live music and dance festival takes place this year.

Due to increasing event costs and change in circumstances from sponsors, the organisers of The BIG Picnic are looking to the community for support to secure the remaining capital needed for the 12th annual The BIG Picnic (formerly Picnic in the Park).

In speaking to Around DB, co-organiser of The BIG Picnic Nick Flavell explains how costs have risen, sponsors have turned their backs and support in event production that they once had, can no longer be returned.  He adds, “We’ve been working really hard to gain sponsorship in the lead up to the event but unfortunately, we’ve received less than we had hoped. It’s reality that we can’t get all the help we need for free so we’re calling on the community to help us make this happen – whether it’s through crowdfunding, supporting our wristbands and just supporting the event as a whole. And in return, we’ll all be helping charities in need.”

For every HK$150 donated, you will receive a Big Picnic wristband, providing you with special discounted rates on food and drinks and access to the beach bar.

In the event that The Big Picnic does not take place, all donations will be refunded.

The Big Picnic is a not for profit event. Money remaining from event costs will be distributed to The Big Picnic’s supported charities.
