The 2016 Lantau International Beer Dash: A great success

Posted in : News on by : Around DB Comments: 0

The eighth Lantau International Beer Dash set off from Tong Fuk yesterday, March 19.

Participants dressed up and drank a different international beer at every checkpoint. Life on Lantau is a proud sponsor of this hugely popular 5-kilometre fun run, along with Around DB, San Miguel, Home Solutions, The Beach House and Phoenix Wills. Funds raised went to Protection of Animals Lantau South (PALS), Herds Up and Lantau Buffalo Association. So popular is the event that all the spots filled within a week of opening registration. Melanie, who founded the event in 2009, decided in 2012 to limit the number of runners to just 350. “This way we can ensure that the race is manageable and fun for both the participants and the volunteers,” she says. “We have participants from Hong Kong and Kowloon side, and some have come all the way from Japan, Australia and Germany. But our regulars are from South Lantau and Discovery Bay.”
