A 51-year-old man was hospitalised for a suspected case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or MERS, reports Hong Kong’s Information Services Department.
The patient, now in stable condition and receiving medical attention at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Ho Man Tin, had recently travelled to the United Arab Emirates.
The Department of Health is currently investigating the matter. Meanwhile, travel agencies organising tours in the Middle East had been advised against promoting camel rides and other activities involving the animals, as they may increase the risk of MERS infection.
