The Hong Kong Observatory will issue the T3 signal between 12pm and 2pm today, as Typhoon Sarika continues to intensify.
At 10am, Sarika was estimated to be around 580km south of Hong Kong and is forecast to move west-northwest at around 20km per hour.
Although the storm is not expected to affect Hong Kong directly, winds are predicted to strengthen gradually as the day progresses and squally showers are expected later.
The Hong Kong Observatory is also tracking a new cyclone, located to the east of the Philippines. Currently classified as a Severe Typhoon, Haima is set to intensify into a Super Typhoon as it moves in the general direction of Hainan and may affect Hong Kong towards the end of the week.
