Construction waste from the Hong Kong-Zuhai-Macau bridge has reportedly been dumped into Tung Chung bay.
The bridge project is a 35km link between the three cities. It has come under fire for being over-budget with its completion likely to be delayed.
Robert Clark on his www.lantauconfidential.com blog, said it had been reported that the main contractor for reclamation at the bridge landing point had breached its environmental permit by pouring unsorted construction slurry into Tung Chung Bay.
The China Construction Company was awarded a HK$8.9 billion contract for construction of the artificial island that will host the border crossing facilities. It includes a 23ha reclamation and a 2.6km tunnel.
