Vegetarian options are not always easy to find. We give you a helping hand with these three eateries.

Kung Tak Lam – Causeway Bay

www. openrice.com

This vegetarian restaurant chain is a great option for vegetarians who want to sample classic Chinese dishes – without the meat. It has a huge menu with meat replaced with soy or tofu. They even offer peking duck for vegetarians. It has built a loyal following since opening its doors in 1990 with a health-conscious clientele. Meals are organic, do not contain MSG and produce is sourced from the restaurant’s farm. There are three outlets in Causeway Bay, Sha Tin and Tsim Sha Tsui. Contact: 2890 3127. Address: 10/F, World Trade Centre, 280 Gloucester Road, Causeway Bay.

Life Cafe – Discovery Bay

Life is a firm favourite with health-conscious Discovery Bay residents. It was first established in 2004 and is a modern vegetarian restaurant providing delicious healthy food while supporting the community and the environment as a sustainable business. It has built a reputation for its signature salads, global dishes and organic pastries, all made from scratch by their chefs. Life uses the healthiest and highest quality ingredients with emphasis on local and organic whole foods, as well as a wide selection of fresh juices and smoothies. It has branches in Discovery Bay, Soho and Wan Chai. Contact: 2591 1422. Address: Discovery Bay Plaza, D Deck, Discovery Bay.

Veggie SF – Central

With its 1950s American diner decor, you may be forgiven for expecting US-style beef burgers, wings and ribs. Instead, Veggie SF has a 100 per cent vegetarian menu featuring delight such as soy mayo burgers with crispy black pepper soy patties, chocolate curry and soy milk black truffle pate mixed mushroom spaghetti. The restaurant was established by vegetarian San Francisco natives who love the fabulous ’50s and decided to combine their two passions. Contact: 3902 3902. Address: 10 F, 11 Stanley Street, Central, Hong Kong.
