Hong Kong boss hands out HK$15m to staff after grandson’s birth

The chairman of one of Hong Kong’s biggest companies, Henderson Land, is celebrating the birth of his new grandson by giving away HK$15 million to staff and friends.

The South China Morning Post reported Hong Kong tycoon Lee Shau-kee plans to give away to the lai see money following the birth of his seventh grandchild.

The baby, Lee Jianzi, was born recently to Lee’s younger son Martin Lee Ka-shing and daughter-in-law Cathy Tsui Chi-kei.

As part of the celebration for the newborn, Lee Shau-kee will give away HK$10,000 in cash to each of his 1,500 staff and friends, according to a Henderson Land spokeswoman.

Lee Shau-kee has previously given lai see to staff following the arrival of other grandchildren totalling HK$60 million.
