HKT commits to fixing slow broadband

Posted in : News on by : Around DB Comments: 0

Broadband provider Hong Kong Telecom (HKT) has committed to addressing persistent problems experienced by outlying islands residents in a meeting this week.

Robert Clark, on his www.lantauconfidential.com blog, said the Islands Broadband Concern Group attended an informal background briefing from HKT’s Netvigator engineering and marketing teams.

In good news for Lantau residents, he said HKT has already started work on draft plans to invest fairly widely in broadband fibre on the Outlying Islands.

He said the HKT staff at the meeting appeared taken at the customer broadband experiences and committed to addressing the persistent issues.

He said: “Most immediately, both HKT and the Islands Broadband Concern Group need to further demonstrate the high level of demand from the island communities for high-speed fibre standard services and how much people (customers) would be willing to pay for them.”
