Children aged five to 17 will be able to take part in a Guinness World Record attempt on October 20 on Lantau Island.
The Story Studio is hosting the attempt, which is a Read Across the Globe initiative to highlight the importance of literacy in people’s lives.
The Guinness World Record Attempt is part of a global event on October 20 to have the most number of children read to by an adult in 24 hours.
Story Studio director Sharon Lesley Le Roux said the event was important to highlight that not all children had the same opportunities for education and literacy.
She said the event was being held at two locations on Lantau:
Mui Wo: 1-2pm at Pause, Silverview Centre, 8 Ngan Kwong Wan Rd
Discovery Bay: 4-5pm at Bayview House of Children, North Plaza.
The children’s book Farmer Will Allen and the Growing Table by Jacqueline Briggs Martin will be read at all events.
