Ban on selfie sticks at HK Disneyland

If you are planning a fun day at HK Disneyland this weekend, remember that selfie sticks are now banned!

It’s official, no more selfie sticks are allowed at HK Disneyland (same in every Disneyland around the World). The reason? Selfie sticks are seen as dangerous to members of the public and to staff and equipment. If you visit the theme park, you will be reminded of this by large signs outside the ticket office.

Last week, Disney California – in the US – had to close a roller coaster because a rider whipped out one of the devices, as reported by SCMP.

“We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast,” Disney spokeswoman Kim Prunty said in a statement.

Most attractions around the world have followed the ban, including most museums, famous monuments and theme parks.
