While Hong Kong prepares to celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival this Thursday evening, it seems that Mother Nature might have different plans, as tropical cyclone Meranti edges closer to China.
The latest storm began as a tropical depression at the weekend and has since moved steadily North West. According to the Hong Kong Observatory, Meranti is expected to intensify further over the next few days and move in the general direction of the seas to the east of Luzon and Taiwan. It is expected to become a super typhoon by Tuesday morning.
While it is still too early to know for definite whether Hong Kong will be affected, the territory is within the potential track area for the storm. The Observatory has forecast rain for Thursday and Friday.
