Discovery Bay Marina Club (DBMC) issued a letter to Marina residents on Friday (September 14) reiterating that the club will close on December 31, 2018. The letter reads as follows:
To: All Members
We refer to the individual letters to debenture holders dated 31 August 2018 and the notice posted in the DBMC Clubhouse on the same day in relation to the redemption of your debentures and the closure of the DBMC marina (“Marina”).
We wish to remind you again that your debenture will expire and become payable on 31 December 2018 pursuant to the terms and conditions of your DBMC debenture (“Debenture T&C”). Therefore, your DBMC membership and the associated licence agreement for berthing between you and DBMC will cease on the same day. We have complied with all notice obligations owed to you regarding the redemption of the debenture under the Debenture T&C. Notice was first served on 31 August 2018, which is four months prior to our intended redemption of the debentures and closure of the Marina.
SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS
We understand that some members may have certain queries regarding the upcoming closure of the Marina. In order to facilitate a healthy dialogue and provide further clarity to members, we would like to take this opportunity to accept any questions that you may have on this matter.
Questions may be submitted by 5pm on Friday, 21 September 2018 via:
– email to [email protected]; or
– drop-off at the designated box at the Clubhouse lobby.
Following an assessment of the number and nature of queries submitted, we will use all reasonable endeavours to respond in the most appropriate and timely manner to the questions that we receive.
Meanwhile, we would like to remind you that, in the interest of time, you should make full arrangements for the removal of your vessels and any belongings from the Marina and to settle all related accounts. For further details of departure arrangement, debenture redemption procedures or other settlement matters, please contact our membership department.
As DBMC has been in operation since 1989, extensive repair, renovation and maintenance works of the Marina are long overdue. We are aware that there has been some interests in the public and media regarding our latest developments and we would like to address the rumour that there is no plan to reclaim the Marina for other purposes.
We express our gratitude for your continual support of DBMC. All members are welcome to put forward their interest to remain in touch for further information. We will be in contact with the interested parties when the renovation works are completed and the details of the new operation model become available.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
