Cow euthanised following road accident along Tung Chung Road

Posted in : News on by : Around DB , Comments: 0

A cow was put to sleep yesterday (May 8) after a car crashed into him on South Lantau Road.

The incident took place at around 4pm when passers-by began taking to social media to express their concern for the cow.

The cow appeared to be sitting upright, with its forelimbs pushing to the ground along South Lantau Road.

Police were also called to the scene, while a vet from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) attended to the cow.

Following about two hours, the AFCD vet at the scene made the decision to euthanise the cow due to severe pain from spinal injury.

The Tai O Community Cattle Group is looking to start a petition to review the speed limit along Tung Chung Road.

Last month, a female cow was killed after a car had crashed into her near Shui Hau village.

To report injured, sick or trapped cattle, call 1823.
