Discovery Bay saw an increase in crime in the third quarter of 2017, with 22 cases reported compared to 16 in the previous quarter and 13 in quarter one.

Islands District Council Member for Discovery Bay Amy Yung released the statistics today, after requesting them from the Lantau Police District.

The majority of cases reported concerned burglaries and miscellaneous thefts, with burglaries seeing the biggest increase in quarter three.

Of the cases reported, 46.2% were solved in quarter one, 25% in quarter two, and 45.5% in quarter three.

In October, a number of burglaries were reported by residents of Greenvale Village. DB Management has issued an appeal to residents to employ safety precaution measures in light of the incidents.
