Brace yourselves, it’s going to be a hot weekend!
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, temperatures are expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius and will be “very hot apart from isolated showers in the morning” on Saturday and Sunday. The HKO reports how an anticyclone aloft will bring very hot weather to southern China in the next few days.
Residents are advised to 1) drink plenty of water and avoid over exertion when engaging in outdoor work or activities; 2) avoid prolonged exposure under sunlight; and 3) apply sunscreen of SPF 15 or above for swimmers and those taking part in outdoor activities.
Last weekend, temperatures soared in Hong Kong as temperatures rose to 35.6 degrees Celsius at the Hong Kong Observatory headquarters, making it the hottest day in July since 1968 with a previous record of 35.7 degrees Celsius.
