Four pan-democrats welcomed CY Leung with shouts and protests as he walked into the Legco chamber (Legislative Council chamber) yesterday for his 2016 Policy Address.

Among them, lawmaker Albert Chan Wai-yip was strongly protesting against Lantau’s future development’s proposals.

Minutes later, the four pan democrats were kicked out for disturbing CY Leung’s 2016 Policy Address.

Lawmaker Chan had this to say about Lantau’s future development as seen by the government:

“I am a Lantau resident. Do you know what Lantau is? You are shameless! Don’t you dare touch Lantau!”

Chan was responding to The Lantau Development Advisory Committee’s proposals revealed a few days ago. In their report, they proposed to develop an economic and housing corridor at Northshore Lantau, with the population concentrated in Tung Chung and Siu Ho Wan. They also proposed to examine the possibility of developing the East Lantau Metropolis by building an artificial island near Kau Yi Chau. The ultimate  goal is to develop the metropolis into the third core business district of Hong Kong.
