Discovery Bay residents dominated the first Hong Kong Tag Championship at Kings Park.

Team Bacchus, captained by Db-er Andrew Tasker,  overcame a strong Causeway Bay team 5-2 in the final with two tries from Tissia Polycarpe and Guido Philips to clinch the win.

DB’s Mathew Zoller was named Man of the Tournament and Most Improved Player went to Oliver Rendal, the local DB Dragons football coach.

The championships come after the official Hong Kong Rugby League Association formed a few months ago.

Andrew, who has lived in DB for 14 years, said he pulled the team together a few weeks ago to compete in the championship.

The team, who hail from around the world, all had a background in touch and rugby.

Andrew said the team, which is sponsored by Impact Prowear, would now work towards defending their title in the next competition in two months time in Hong Kong.

But first they would be celebrating their win of a $2000 bar tab at Rula Bula.
