A Filipino domestic worker died from injuries sustained in a fall at Hong Kong International Airport yesterday morning, April 7.
The 27-year-old woman, surnamed Solomon, was found lying unconscious in the arrivals hall on the fifth floor of HKIA Terminal 1 around 7:40am. She reportedly fell from a bridge on floor above, near departures hall section G, according to Oriental Daily.
After reportedly sustaining severe head injury, Solomon was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital, where she was declared dead later.
Authorities are investigating whether Solomon’s death was a case of suicide, having not found any suicide note at the scene. Initial investigations did not reveal any suspicious circumstances.
Filipino news outlet Hong Kong News were told by a police spokesperson that it was unclear if the Solomon was exiting Hong Kong, adding that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Around the time of the incident it was unclear if the domestic worker was Filipina, as conflicting reports had stated that the victim was of Indonesian descent. Other sources claim that she had been on the floor for roughly half an hour before she was taken to the hospital.
