DB’s Kurt Lynn wins big at Royale International Kayak n Run

Posted in : News on by : Around DB Comments: 0

Cool weather prevailed on May 28, Saturday morning for the Royale International Kayak n Run at Deep Water Bay, near Middle Island.

Pairs battled it out in a 4km ocean kayak and 5km trail run in the main race, which followed a shorter family course comprising a 1.5km ocean kayak and 1.5km run.

Of the 60 teams for each category, Kurt Lynn of Team Gatorade took first place in both along with teammates Ali Watts in the adult category, and son Taiki Lynn in the family category.

The family race took place at 7am, which saw racers paddle down Deep Water Bay towards Ocean Park near the back of the HK club, and then run back along the Mills and Chung Path. Kurt and Taiki Lynn won the race in 19 minutes flat, a cool 77 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Hopping back into another kayak after warming up in the family category, Kurt joined Ali Watts to finish with an impresive time of 01:33:46, giving Team Gatorade Juggernauts wins in both overall and mixed category for the adults, beating the closest competition by almost two minutes.

The challenging dual sport event also found participants basking in the rare and breathtaking views of the scenic route.

A second race is set to take place at Discovery Bay on June 11. The Royale International Kayak n Run Series is presented by Royale International and supported by ActionX Store, LIFEPROOF, Salonsip, Herbalgy, Gatorade, OL&N, Socam, Key Sun Zinke and Action Asia Foundation.

Congratulations Kurt, Ali, and Taiki!
