The Civil Engineering & Development Department has signed a HK$74.7 million contract with Wing Hing Construction Company for improvement works in Tai O.
Since 2002, the Planning Department has aimed to preserve the heritage and natural attributes of Tai O, while enhancing its visitor appeal and local employment base.
The revitalisation project is in stage one of its second phase which includes works for a public open space, public transport terminus, car park, cycle parking area and a loading and unloading area. The existing Tai O bus terminus and public car park will be rebuilt.
The project aims to improve traffic and pedestrian circulation outside the entrance to Tai O town centre.
Completion of this phase of the project is scheduled for the third quarter of 2019.
