Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon (formerly Dragonair) have announced that they are increasing the weight limit for checked baggage from next month.

The enhanced baggage policy will allow all passengers, regardless of their class of travel, to check-in an extra 10 kilograms. Marco Polo Club Silver, Gold and Diamond members will be able to enjoy an extra 10, 15 and 20 kilograms respectively.

The new system will also take into account the number of items being checked in. Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy passengers will be entitled to check-in two items free of charge, with First Class passengers able to check-in three. Marco Polo Club Gold and Diamond members will be entitled to check-in one additional item on top of their travel class allowance.

In addition to the checked baggage changes, Cathay Dragon will also increase its carry-on allowance from five to seven kilograms in Economy and Premium Economy. Business Class and First Class passengers will be allowed 10 and 15 kilograms respectively.

The new policy comes into effect on September 15.
