Retired High Court judge James Rhind has gone missing.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post,  the 80-year old Rhind left his home in Pui O with nothing but his Hong Kong ID card.

Receiving no answer when she called for him in their home around 8pm last night, his wife Nancy, 91, thought he had gone out. She said that Rhind regularly walked their pet dog and was quite familiar with the trails and the neighborhood. He had never before gone missing.

Originally from England, Rhind came to Hong Kong in 1965. He retired as a High Court judge in 1994.

Police have been in search all throughout Lantau Island since last night, and are intensifying efforts with additional men. They are appealing for everyone on Lantau, particularly hikers, to keep an eye out a 6’3” man of slim build with combed-back white hair.

Those with information should contact the Lantau South division  at 3661 1696.
