Cathay Dragon (formerly Dragonair) has confirmed that an “unsatisfactory bacteria count” has been found in the water tank of one of its planes.
The reported coliform contamination was discovered during routine testing on July 26. The tank of the airbus A321 has since been disinfected.
The company stressed that the tank contained potable water which was not used for drinking, however passengers are advised to avoid using tap water for rinsing. There are no reported cases of anyone having taken ill as a result of the contamination.
Further tests will be conducted to ensure that water from the tank is now back within a safe range.
In tests carried out in June 2015, 14 out of 22 Cathay Pacific aircraft were found to have unsatisfactory water readings.
