A third forum on Lantau development to be held in March

Overwhelming response has led the Lantau Development Advisory Committee (LanDAC) to add to its public engagement activities.

According to Hong Kong’s Information Services Department, the third public forum will take place on March 13, Sunday at 2.30pm to 5pm, at Room 101 Auditorium, the Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, 3 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai.

Two public forums had taken place at Tung Chung on February 20 and at Central on February 28.

LanDAC released proposals on developing Lantau into a smart and low-carbon community in January. These comprise spatial planning and land use, conservation, traffic and transport infrastructure, recreation, tourism, and economic and social development. These have since drawn strong criticism from residents and other parties.

To further gauge public opinion on the matter, the third forum is now open for registration. Seats are limited; registration will close on March 10, Thursday, or when the quota has been filled.

The forum will be conducted in Cantonese with simultaneous English interpretation.

Those interested to participate can register by email, by phone (8226 2636) or by fax (3585 0211). An online registration form can be filled or downloaded on LanDAC’s website.
