Congratulations to ESF student Lauren Ella Tarrant of Discovery College for achieving the maximum 45 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma! Joining Lauren among the 12 students recognised for achieving top marks are Anya Frances Saunders of Island School; Jun Yeji Lim (Bilingual Diploma) and Jason Ma of King George V School; Jasmine Chae Won Lee of Renaissance College; Eugene Yuet,Chee Lau, Maggie So Mei Ke, George Su (Bilingual Diploma), Athena Tsang, Gavin Yeung, and Charmaine Yuen of Shatin College; and Vereta Gour of South Island School.
The students were lauded for their extraordinary results achieved during “extraordinary times”. Another 24 ESF students achieved 44 points. In 2020, over 174,355 students from around the world entered for IB Diploma examinations.
Students choose six subjects, for which they can be awarded a maximum of seven points each. A further three points can be earned from an Extended Essay and a Theory of Knowledge course. At least 24 points must be achieved to qualify for the IB Diploma and students must successfully complete a Creativity, Activity, Service programme (CAS) of their choice. ESF students’ average 35.7 points in the IB Diploma – six points above the global average.
