Discovery College (DC)'s vision statement - Grow. Discover. Dream - recognises the need for students to be independent, critical and creative thinkers, equipped with the skills, attitudes and values to contribute positively in today’s complex world. The college uses English as the medium for teaching and learning. There is also a strong emphasis on the acquisition of Chinese (Putonghua) as a second language. The college strongly supports all subject areas with a robust academic curriculum, including the performing and creative arts (dance, drama, music) plus visual arts, design technology and ICT). Discovery College believes that powerful learning and teaching occurs under a shared spirit of respect, which dignifies and prizes diversity of experiences and perspectives, reaches into traditions as well as into the future, excites a passion for ongoing inquiry and strives to help all learners reach for enduring excellence. A private, independent school run by ESF, DC caters for both primary and secondary students. For students aged three to 12, the international, trans-disciplinary IB Early Years Programme focuses on the development of the child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. DC offers the IB Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma Programme for secondary students in Years 7 to 13. DC is known for its award-winning state-of-the-art design, exceptional performing arts centre, gymnasium spaces, heated swimming pool, library, science labs and more. DC has no catchment area in its admission policy, meaning students from all over Hong Kong can apply there to study. Admissions priorities include siblings of existing students, Nomination Rights students and former students returning from overseas. Scholarships are available for exceptional students.
