Passenger missing after being thrown from boat in stormy seas

One person is missing and 12 others have been rescued after being thrown from a boat in stormy waters off Sai Kung this afternoon.

The incident happened at 3.31pm today, shortly after the Hong Kong Observatory issued an Amber rainstorm warning. A T3 signal was also in force at the time and is expected to remain in force into the evening.

A search is currently underway for the missing passenger. It is understood that a helicopter was dispatched to help from its base in Lantau however was unable to assist due to the severe weather conditions.
