Cash in your loose coins! The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has announced their coin collection service schedule for the latter half of the year.
The coin collection truck will be under the footbridge of Caribbean Coast Phase 2 in Tung Chung (near Tower 6) from today until Sunday, September 18 (NOTE: service is suspended on Wednesday September 14).
The truck will be back in the Islands district from November 28 to December 4 in the following locations:
- Outside Tung Chung Health Centre, Fu Tung Estate on Monday November 28, Tuesday November 29 and Wednesday November 30
- Discovery Bay Plaza, Discovery Bay: Friday December 2, Saturday December 3, Sunday December 4
NOTE: Service is suspended on Thursday 1 December
You can choose to exchange your coins for banknotes or add value to your Octopus card.
The coin carts have collected HK$213 million worth of coins since their launch in 2014 with the aim of recirculating them to meet public demand and reduce the need to mint new coins.
