One person was injured and hundreds left stranded on Saturday evening when a Turbojet ferry collided with a fishing boat near Lantau Island.
The crash occurred at around 11.50pm, approximately 35 minutes after the ferry departed from the Macau terminal, with 289 passengers and ten crew members on board.
While no serious injuries were reported, Around DB understands that a 20-year old woman was taken to hospital with minor leg injuries as a result of the collision.
The exact cause of the crash is not yet clear, however it is believed that bad weather may have been a contributing factor. Both boats sustained damaged in the incident.
Passengers were stranded for around an hour and a half while mainland and Hong Kong authorities inspected the vessels, before being allowing them to continue on their journeys. The ferry eventually arrived in Hong Kong at around 2.20am.
Further disruption to ferry services has been reported today, after a construction vessel sank just outside the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal in Macau. All those on board have been rescued.
Passengers are advised to check the latest schedule information before setting off.
