Is another typhoon on the way?

Typhoon Lionrock

The Hong Kong Observatory is tracking a tropical storm that has developed to the south of Japan.

Although Tropical Storm Lionrock is still a long way off at present, it is forecast to move in the direction of the Ryuku Islands over the next few days and intensify gradually. The presence of other tropical disturbances to the east of the Philippines is making it difficult to predict the route the storm will take, therefore it is not yet clear whether Lionrock will affect Hong Kong.

Three storms have resulted in the Observatory issuing tropical cyclone warnings so far this year, with Typhoon Nida the only one to result in a T8 signal.
