Hong Kong delivers strong IB results in 2016 but pass rate drops

Hong Kong students have once again performed well in the International Baccalaureate (IB) examination, despite a drop in the overall pass rate this year.
According to ITS Education Asia, of 2,076 students who sat the examination in 2016, 96.76 percent passed the assessment, a slight drop on the previous year's figure of 97.5 percent. The number of students achieving a perfect score also dropped by half. The global pass rate this year was just 79.28%.
Of the 23 schools included in the ITS report, Diocesan Boys' School topped the leaderboard with a 100 percent pass rate and 67.31% of students scoring 40 points or more.
Schools serving Discovery Bay also performed well, with German Swiss International School (GSIS) and Yew Chung (YCIS) both reporting 100 percent pass rates.
In Discovery Bay itself, Discovery College reported a pass rate of 96 percent with 17.3 percent of students achieving 40 points or more.
