Man falls to death in Mui Wo before sentencing due for photographing stranger in Citygate toilet

Citygate mall

Sentencing was due yesterday in the case against a 19-year-old Mui Wo resident, who pleaded guilty to committing an act outraging public decency on January 12 at Citygate mall in Tung Chung.

The court heard previously that the 24-year-old male victim was in a toilet cubicle in the mall when he heard a camera shutter sound. Looking up, he saw a phone pointing at him from the adjacent cubicle.

The victim immediately rushed after the defendant and captured him. Under caution, the defendant expressed that he was gay and had acted out of curiosity, but that he had since deleted the photos.

The defendant was scheduled to return to court in Tsuen Wan yesterday, however was sadly found dead outside his Mui Wo apartment on March 24. A suicide note was found at the scene.

Sentencing has been adjourned until October 27 in order to give the prosecution time to obtain the man's death certificate.
