A virtual guide to Cheung Chau Bun Festival 2016

Cheung Chau's famous annual Bun Festival took place on May 11 to 15, an event that routinely draws crowds of locals and tourists, comprising roughly 70,000 visitors each year.

While the main attractions include a healthy helping of colourful parades, rituals, lion dances and the thrilling midnight bun scrambling contest, many also come for the island's default offerings, including its charming neighbourhood and picturesque beaches.

Youtube channel HongKongMap dropped in to capture the most recent festivities on film. An outlet for video production services provider Vidsources, the channel serves as a virtual map allowing viewers to experience the city's famous landmarks and events.

In its thirty-minute abridged virtual tour, HongKongMap brings viewers around Cheung Chau's streets and alleys, gives front row seats to a number of festival activities, shares a glimpse of a soothing time-lapse sunset by the sea, and even takes people along on the ferry ride to and from the island. A full four-hour video tour is also available on the channel.
