On-call service for Discovery Bay medical centres halted

The off-hour service hotlines of medical clinics in Discovery Bay have ceased.

For years, residents had been able to reach doctors from any of the neighbourhood clinics after operating hours and on weekends for emergencies. People could seek advice over the phone or in extreme cases, meet with the clinics' physicians to receive medical attention.

On May 1, the on-call services for both DB clinics have been discontinued.

A resident was recently unable to reach the designated numbers of either clinics, and was on the following day advised to instead head directly to North Lantau Hospital in Tung Chung for treatment, or call 999 for an ambulance, as the 24-hour service is much better equipped for emergencies.
