Toddler survives getting hit by a taxi

Under heavy rain, a taxi lost control while approaching an intersection in Cheung Sha Wan on Tuesday night, running a red light and hitting a baby pram carrying a three-year-old boy, as well as his 58-year-old grandmother.

The pair was hit by the cab when it swerved from the leftmost lane before crashing onto the barrier on the opposite side, knocking the stroller approximately ten metres down the road. Another pedestrian narrowly avoided getting hit.

The woman immediately got to her feet and rushed to the toddler. They were then brought to Caritas Medical Centre, and later discharged after being treated for minor injuries. The taxi driver, 38, was ultimately arrested for dangerous driving, after being treated at the hospital for minor injuries, along with his female passenger.

The entire incident, which took place around 6pm on May 3rd, was captured on video by another motorist on the scene named Patrick, who later uploaded the frightful footage on Facebook. The video clearly shows the victims crossing during the walk light. Patrick had visited the boy and his grandmother at the hospital, and has promised to make another statement with the police.
